Privacy Policy & Website Terms
Privacy Policy
In providing our services to you there may be circumstances where we collect personal information. Our privacy policy has been developed to ensure that such information is handled appropriately.
We are committed to complying with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). The APPs set out the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your personal information
What is personal information?
‘Personal information’ is information or opinions relating to a particular identifiable individual.
Examples of personal information we collect include names, addresses, email addresses, job titles, phone and facsimile numbers. If you access our website, we may collect additional personal information about you in the form of your IP address or domain name. We will only collect the personal information that is required to provide services to you or someone you know.
What is sensitive information?
‘Sensitive information’ includes personal information that could have serious ramifications for the individual concerned if used inappropriately. Examples of sensitive information include information or opinions about such things as an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal record or health information.
We will not collect sensitive information without your consent unless permitted under the Privacy Act.
How and when do we collect personal information?
We will collect personal information directly from you. There may, however, be some instances where personal information about you will be collected indirectly because it is unreasonable or impractical to collect personal information directly from you. We will usually notify you about these instances in advance, or where that is not possible, as soon as reasonably practicable after the information has been collected.
How do we manage the personal information we collect?
We manage the personal information we collect by:
providing team members with training on privacy issues;
regularly reviewing our privacy compliance; and
implementing security measures to keep the personal information we collect safe, including using unique usernames and passwords on systems that can access personal information and security cards to access on-site information.
How do we hold personal information?
We hold personal information:
physically on our premises;
electronically through internal servers and websites and a private cloud; by a third party data storage provider in Australia; and
electronically through third-party services, such as Google Analytics and MailerLite, that collect and analyse log data to improve our services and targeted marketing.
We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that all personal information we hold is secure from any unauthorised access, misuse or disclosure.
Why do we collect, hold, use or disclose personal information?
We collect your personal information for the primary purpose of providing our services to you, providing information to our clients and marketing. We may also use your personal information for secondary purposes closely related to the primary purpose, in circumstances where you would reasonably expect such use or disclosure. You may unsubscribe from our mailing/marketing lists at any time by contacting us in writing.
Your personal information may be disclosed in a number of circumstances including the following:
third parties where you consent to the use or disclosure; and
where required or authorised by law.
Accessing or correcting your personal information
You may request access to the personal information we hold or ask for their personal information to be corrected. If you wish to access or correct your personal information, please contact us in writing.
We will not charge any fee for your access request but may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your personal information. The fee (if any) will be disclosed prior to it being levied.
In keeping with our commitment to protect the privacy of personal information, we will not disclose personal information to an individual without proof of identity.
We may deny access to personal information if:
the request is impractical or unreasonable;
providing access would have an unreasonable impact on the privacy of another person;
providing access would pose a serious and imminent threat to the life or health of any person;
providing access would compromise our professional obligations; or
there are other legal grounds to deny the request.
